Family Systems

Dear Friends,

Here is a 2-minute video I made last week about Family Systems:

Families are a system, and they can become disordered and out of balance quickly. The nervous system takes about 21 days to learn a new habit, a new job, a new normal for breaking an addiction; why should we be okay with suddenly being slammed into home life with people we rarely see all at once? Well, we aren’t sometimes.

Most of us are dysregulated. Most of us are weirdly “off” – though we have a fairly normalized routine, I am hearing, “I don’t know why I feel this way. Everything is pretty much the same, but I feel wildly anxious.”

Go easy. We will establish a new normal. Until then: GO OUTSIDE AND WALK EVERYDAY. THIS IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE NERVOUS SYSTEM TO MAINTAIN BALANCE. GET SUNLIGHT ON YOUR ARMS AND HEAD FOR TEN MINUTES FOR VITAMIN D.

NAP FOR TWENTY MINUTES IN THE AFTERNOON. YOU WILL SLEEP BETTER AT NIGHT AND WILL LOSE WEIGHT. (Did I get your attention? More later about all that…)

And don’t forget GRATITUDE. Have you noticed the clean air? The lack of cars has given us a chance to breathe. The flowers are in bloom. The trees are budding. Nature is beautiful.

This is an opportunity to recalibrate. This is an opportunity to reconsider what is important. To increase our bandwidth to include things that matter in our lives.

Love, Gopita
